というわけで、日本にとって「勝たなければならない試合」バーレーン戦に埼玉まで行ってきました。前回行ったのが北朝鮮戦ってことだったので、今回はそれに比べると会場周辺の雰囲気もどこか和やかで、緊張感は0でした。そのおかげで重要な試合ってことは頭でわかっていたのですが、こっちもテンションが上がり切らずのほほ～んとたこ焼きをつまみながら会場入りしました。
スタジアムに入ると、バーレーンの応援団が皆無ということもあり6万人真っ青でした。それなりに盛り上がってはいるのですが、どうもテンションが上がりきらない上、今回一緒に行って隣に座ったのが前の会社の先輩ということもあり、ジジイ二人でのほほ～んとブツブツ言いながら観戦してました。ちなみにこの先輩、元帝京高校サッカー部出身ってことで一緒に観戦するとテレ朝の解説陣の話を聞くよりはるかに勉強になります。でも、2002年のトルコ戦を一緒に行ったコンビでもあるので非常に不安でもありましたが・・・

で、試合ですが前半はバーレーンは守りに徹する・・・というより攻めてこないので日本が圧倒的にボールポゼッションを得るにもかかわらず、途中までシュート0というお粗末な内容。夜から冷え込んできたスタジアムに吹く風が非常に冷たかったです。前半途中から俊輔がフリーキック・コーナーキックと立て続けに蹴るのですが得点につながらずでした。前半の感想はアレックスが足元でボールをもらいたがりすぎで全く試合にからめないご様子。俊輔はキレてましたね。個人的に中田ボランチ起用をずっと言い続けていたので個人的に注目してみましたが、フリーでボールをもらえるもののそこからの効果的な切り込みやパス供給はなく、ミスも頻発してたように見えました。先輩曰く「普通の人」でした。フォワードの二人は全く見せ場なし。特に高原のところでボールが納まらないし周りのサポートがなく、簡単に取られるシーンが目立ってました。
コーナーを行ったり来たりで途中で飽きてきたご様子の俊輔。
後半になると、俊輔がサイドに流れるようになりそのスペースに中田が入ってくるというシーンができてきて、機能し始めたみたいです。アレックスもワンタッチでさばいたり、自分から動き出したりと、何箇所かいいシーンがありました。右サイドの加持はゴールラインにボールを切り返すフェイントが何回も決まってて気持ちよさそうでした。ちゃんとクロスまで行ってたので後は精度と中の動き出しかなと思いました。
ゴールシーンは逆サイドだったのでよく見えなかったのですが、まぁどんな形でも決まってくれてよかったです。その後の時間バーレーンが攻めに出て押し込まれたのを見たときはイラン戦の悪夢を思い出しました。背中に嫌な汗をかかされました。この辺は北朝鮮戦から続く課題ですね。点が動いた後どうするのかというのがちょっと曖昧な気がしました。
試合終了後、観客に挨拶に回る選手の方々。笑顔がこぼれてたけど、この前にオーロラビジョンにアップになった中田の苦い顔が印象的でした。
試合内容はかなりお粗末でしたが、バーレーンも弱いチームではないのでとにかく結果がでてくれたので良かったです。そもそも今回のレギュレーションは4チーム中2チームが無条件でワールドカップへ行けるわけで94年や98年に比べると余裕がありますが、このままだと本戦に行けても全敗してサヨウナラということも十分考えられます。ちょっとどうにかして欲しいなと思う今日この頃です。
